Capturing Your Meaningful Work with Videos

Labor as love

“Work is love made visible.” –Kahil Gibran

Do you have a deep personal investment in your work and a desire to see it come to fruition?  That’s the meaning of Gibran’s statement. It suggests that the act of working– a job, a craft, any form of labor—can be an expression of love and care, not just for money.  When we put effort into our work, we often channel our passions, values and dedication into it.

Passion and Dedication

Passion about your work reflects love for what you do, whether that’s caring for others, creating art or building a community.

Service to Others

Do you work in a profession that involves serving and caring for others–teaching, nursing, social work?  This work can be a manifestation of love and commitment to improving the lives of others.

Finding Meaning, Capturing It

Meaningful work provides fulfillment and a sense of purpose, reinforcing the idea that our contributions to society can be rooted in love and altruism, not just in money.

Reflecting upon Gibran’s statement invites us to think about our work and how it reflects our values, passions, the care we have for others and for our communities.  Let’s portray it in video.

Capturing Woodhouse in Videos

Last month we produced an example of meaningful work with a series of videos about Woodhouse in Pompano Beach.

You will appreciate in this series what a remarkable commitment looks like:  some 30 years of three Woodhouse executives and staff dedicated to improving and enriching the lives of moderate to severely disabled adults in Broward County.

The residential facility and training center serving 25 men and women is a nurturing alternative to an institution. The Woodhouse staff finds meaning– a calling–in caring for each disabled resident.
